Docking is* about finished in these parts, and some large percentages are reported. Shearing operations have commenced on some of the stations, but rains' will put a. stop to- shearing for several days.
Mr J. Campbell, jun., is .having an up-to-date woolshed built. Messrs C. E. Darnells', and Son are the contractors.
Quite a number of enthusiasts journeyed to Masterton on Thursday evening to witness the boxing tournament.
MAURIOEVILLE WEST.
On Monday, 27th inst., a trucking of "fat bacon pigs for Mr B. R. Rayner,' the first of the season, will be sent away from the Mauriceville railway station. ['.' The local Cricket Club are putting in a regular week-end practice, and are showing good form. Miss Forsberg has been spending a few days with friends at Lansdowne.' The stables which have stood in the old County Council yards have been removed to a more suitable site at Hastwell.
The local butter factory is taming out nearly a ton of butter per month in excess of last year's output. The soaking rains of last week have made the pastures'and growing crops look first rate. The district right through; is looking remarkably well.
