THE GAMING ACT.
There is a suspicion in the minds of the public that Mr L. M. Isitt and certain other members of the House were influenced in their obstruction of the Land Bill by a desire to prer vent the Gaming Act Amendment Bill of Mr G. Hunter being introduced. Whether .this suspicion 'be wellfounded or not, the fact remains that the appropriation of a private members' day at this stage of the session renders the chances of the Gaming Bill exceedingly small. However; the Government has practically pledged itself to afford the House an opportunity of deciding whether justice shall be.done to those country Racing Clubs which were wiped out by a piece of meddlesome and injudicious legislation. Mr Massey is morally bound to redeem this pledge, and the Gaming Bill will have to be faced, whether Mr Isitt and his friends like it or not.
