TRUST LANDS TRUST.

MONTHLY MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust was held last evening, there being present: Messrs W. H. Jackson (in the chair), ;0. B. Daniell, O. N. O. Pragnell, R. Krahagen, A. J. McEwen and A. W. Hogg. A letter was received from the Wellington Education Board, in reference to the grant from! the Trust towards the increasing of teachers' salaries in secondary departments, and thanking the Trust for its generous grant It was decided that the question of allocating the grant be left over to a future meeting. The secretary of the Master-ton Municipal Band wrote in reference to number of performances given, iby the Band.—Received.

It was agreed that the Trust would bo prepared to assist the Band more, liberally than in the past, but it would be necessary to forward to the Trust a statement regarding the financial position of the Band. The Carterton Town Clerk wrote, asking for the dimensions and cost of erecting the Masterton Town Hall. The secretary stated that he had supplied the infctrmation asked for. Mr A. R. Bunny forwarded Trust leases to Messrs Heron and Scorrar. The treasurer reported a debit balance df £396 5s lOd.

It was decided, in accordance w.ith the report of the Building Committee, that various improvements be effected on Trust properties. It was decided that the application for grant from the Lansdowne School stand over in the meantime, as there is no immediate need for a special grant. The Education Committee reported that schools within the small farm district were visited, and an inspection of the grounds and garden plots suggested that the prosecution of needed improvements must rest with the School Committee.

. The Education Committee reported that the special vote to the Catholic School haki been utilised to the best advantage. In reference to matriculation grants the committee recommended that Miss Grace Waddington be granted a, matriculation grant for last year, as well as the present year, and that 6. Matherson also ho granted a matriculation grant for this year. The committee reported that they had no recommendation to make in regard to the applications of E. Mackersey and G. Cork. .

The reports of the Building and Finance and Education Committees were read and approved. Accounts amounting to £272 lis Id ware passed for payment.
