FOREIGN TRADE.
A copy of the Board of Trade Journal forwarded to the Chfistchurch Press by Mr W. C. Wickham, JB.M; Trade Commissioner for JNew Zealand, kiyes particulars of, a very practicall method adopted for the purpose of enlightening British manufacturers as to the/competition which they have to" face in this Dominion. Mr Wickham, it appears, made a collection of samples of hardware of foreign origin competing with British goofis" in the New Zealand market, and these have been exhibited in the Lecture Room of London Chamber of Commerce, 1 having' previously been jshown at. the Chambers of Commerce in Birmingham, Sheffield, • and Wolverhampton . The articles include such goods, as househpld. hardware, tools, etc.. Details are country of manufacture, price, landed cost, and other matters affecting the trade. The exhibition appears to, have attractefl great "interest'and is certainly a very effective Way of keeping British manufacturers .posted as to. the needs of this market, and the competition they have to meet with on the Dart of their foreign rivals. &, .
