PARIS STREET NOISES.
THE CITY AN INFERNO. (SYDNEY "SUN" SPECIAL.) (Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) *' , PARIS, August 3. The Prefect of Police has commenced a campaign against street noises, .--"which are murdering sleep. He states that heavy loaded with stones and pig-iron, which have been shaking the foundations of houses, must have rubber tyrea to reduce their vibration, and must not exceed 7£ miles an hour. "Juggernaut" tramways, rattling motoromnibuses, screeching sirens, the cracking of cabmen's whips, and the hideous whistles of engines, have converted the city into an inferno.
