Our Own ' Correspondent,
Messrs C. and S. Morgan, of Bel--vedere, oh Thursday railed 76 head of cattle (cows and heifers') to. their new farm in the "Woodville district. At the residence of Mr and Mrs G. Eaton, of Kokotau, on Wednesday evetnang, a large gathering of local residents assembled to say farewell to Miss Herrick, who is leaving Kokotau to reside in Carterton. A very sociable time was spent in euchre, song, and story, and during a suitable interval Mr W. A. Rennall, on behalf of the settlers, presented Miss Herrick with a beautifully mounted hairbrush, comb, and mirror, as a mark of esteem in which she is held by the neighbours. . The gift was suitably acknowledged by Miss Herrick. During the evening songs were contributed by Mesdames Rennall, .King, Burling, Misses Jensen, Burgess, E. Rennall, Messrs Adams, W. A. IRennall, and I. Bradley. Accompaniments were Iplayed by Miss Burgees and Mr T. Bradley, and violin obligatos by Miss Rennall ari3 Mr T. Denbee. The euchre prizes were won by Miss "Herrick, and Mr :W. A. Rennall, the consolation prizes falling to Miss Ward, and Mr H. R. Burgess respectively. A very pleasant evening terminated with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
