BOARD OF AGRICULTURE.
The proposals of the Government in regard to the Board of Agriculture were outlined by the Prime Minister at the Conference of A. and P. Associations in Wellington yesterday. These proposals, if given effect to, should stimulate the work of the Agricultural department and materially assist in developing the resources of the country. It is satisfactory to note that the Government intends allowing the A. and P. Associations and Farmers' Union to nominate threefourths of the members of the Board. This will improve the status of these bodies and remove the Board from the suspicion of being politically-con-trolled. The intimation by the Prime Minister that Mr J. G. Wilson, President of the Farmers' Union, would probably be one of the Government nominees to the Board, will give very great satisfaction. The President of the A. and P. Association Conference might also be, with advantage, an ex officio member.
