A USEFUL INVENTION.
The Katipo, the organ of the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association, says: —"An invention that shows very considerable merit has been placed at the disposal of the Postal Department. It is the work of Mr A. B. Philp, a P.O. messenger in Wellington, who claims, and apparently with justice, that the invention will prove a great space saver. The mechanism is a simple arrangement of hinged and clasps, so that the hamper when empty can be collapsed and will take up no more working space than if the sides, tops and bottoms were placed on top of the other. . The factor of storage for empty hampers is a considerable problem in most post offices, and this invention appears to find the solution. The work of setting up and collapsing a hamper is very simple, and does not occupy a minute. The hamper has yet to stand the test of usage, hut the inventor is sanguine on this soore, and is to be congratulated on the prospects this ingenuity have opened for him."
