An elderly, man named Charles Reading, who was admitted to. the Masterton Hospital from Tinui a few in a" very low condition, died yesterday morning. The friends in Masterton of Mr William Pauling, formerly a tailor in this town, and' a brother of the late Mr James Pauling, will learn with regret of his death, which occurred suddenly in Wellington yesterday. \ Mr Pauling was staying at Mr J. •o!Meara's Clarendon, Hotel, and was dressing himself in v the morning, when he sustained. a stroke. He was removed to the hpsp£sdl, where he died albout mid-day. The deceased was about forty-seven years of age. . Mr Cook, of Rai Valley, Marlborough, hasheen appointed to succeed Mr Henderson as manager of the Rongokokako cheese factory. A pretty wedding was celebrated at Church Eketahuna, on Thursday, when Miss H. Torwick, niece of Mr and Mrs Peter Neilson, of Eketahuna, was married to Mr Samuel Kearney, of Blastings, son of Mr and Mrs Kearney, of Auckland. The ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. Walke, was witnessed by a ; large number of friends, The bride, who was given away by her uncle, was attired in a 'becoming dress of Japanese dechintz, and wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms. - Miss Myrtle Boyd and. Miss Moira Boyd acted as bridesmaids, and were daintily attired in cream dresses. Mr J. Groves, of Auckland, acted' as best man, and Mr J. H. Taylor, of Hastings, as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mr P. Neilson.
