ANOTHER RUSH FOR VACCINATION. TRAIN PASSENGER AFFECTED. (Received Last Night, 8.45 o'clock.,) SYDNEY, July 17. One reassuring feature of the small" pox epidemic is that it continues to retain its mild form. With the increase in cases during the past few days, the lull which was becoming apparent amongst vaccinoes has ended, and the depots are again busy. To-day's cases included two more Prince Alfred Hospital nurses. On the arrival of the train from Grenfell this morning, a male passenger proceeded to the Health Department and reported that he was suffering from a rash, which ho believed was small-pox. A diagnosis disclosed the disease in a highly-infectious state. The man went to Grenfell from Sydney a fortnight ago. On discovering the rash, he boarded the train without any precautions and mixed freely with the passengers. The train was immediately disinfected, and the authorities are asking passengers to report themselves. The incident lias caused Uneasiness among railway travellers, the numbers of whom have enormously decreased since the outbreak. Hotels and boarding establishments -re feeling the pinch badly, very feu visitors arriving from the country and other States. The Hairdressers' Association has ordered all its members to be vaccinated. Other public bodies whose duties in' volve danger of infection are taking similar precautions. MELBOURNE, July 17. As a result of the Karoola case, there has been a great rush for vaccination. The Karoola's passengers are being traced, and all necessary precautions adopted. EFFECTS OF VACCINATION. The staffs of many firms, including the Union Steamship Company, are much depleted, many employees being absent. suffering from the effects of vaccination.
