SIR JOSEPH WARD.
Nobody who ibis read the cables during the last few months, or who has perused the English files, can have failed to !ha»vo been impressed with the fact that during his Visit to the Old Country Sir Joseph Ward has materially assisted in advertising the resources of New Zealand and removing misapprehensions concerning the social and other conditions that obtain in this oauntry. Ag ta private member, ho lwn, perhaps, had greater opportunities of speaking plainly and convincingly than ho would have had were ho the Prime Minister. Differing though we do. with Ihis politics i methods, wo would bo blind with pre jjudico were we liot to express our appreciation of the efforts made by Sir Joseph during his stay in, England to advertise the Dominion. If other politicians who visit tihe Old Country wore to follow the example of Sir Joseph Ward, and make it their business to keep tip the Dominiotn end of the sitick, tlie immigration problem would not present bo many difficulties. Sir Joseph deserves .the "welhomo ihomo" that is to be extended to him. 4
