AMUSEMENTS.
TOWN HALL PICTURES. To-night will be the last night on which the publio of Master ton will be afforded the opportunity of witnessing tiie magnificent military film, "With the Colours," which has aroused so much enthusiasm among those who have witnessed it. The picture is certainly one of the best that has been shown in the Dominion. The drama, "When California, was Young," is full of chivalry and romance, revealing a beautiful and pathetic Spanish love story; "The Intrusion at Larnpoc" tells of the consternatian wrought in the hearts of a number of the fair s&x in a quiet little inland town on the appearance of a typical gambler of pleasing manner. "The Gardens of Luxembourg" is a splendid scenic, while the comics aroall "0.K.," and the Pathe Gazette a dream in cinematography. To-morrow afternoon there will be something fresh for the "kiddies," and in the evening the public will ibe treated to another of those feature programmes that are making the reputation of the Masterton Picture and Entertainment Company.
THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. A large crowd wended their way last evening to the Masterton Eleetrio Theatre, bent in seeing the unusually fine selection of films which shows for the last time to-night. "Work in a Telegraph Department" is an intensely interesting number, showing as it does the very latest and best in the mechanical devices used to facilitate the transmission of the electric (message round the world. It is not often that one is called upon to specially note a comic picture, but in "Roscambole's Gloves" we have something which recallis the days of "Pepper's Ghost," possibly the very first thing attempted in moving picture matters. Their antics are uncanny and weird in the extreme. The alluring merits of the leading star drama, "His Brother's Crime," (have been fully dealt with in preceding issues, -and it only remains to say that this picture has proved mostpopular The other dramas—"Michael Dwyer," the historical Irish patriot; "The Toll-Gate Raiders," "The Ranch Girl's Trial"—have all found their admirers, and the interest and comic sections leave nothing to be desired. The star picture for Saturday's change is a mystical study entitled "The Dream." This is a 3000 feet picture of highly sensational interest.
