THE MARITAL TIE.
"Whom God hath joined together, let no man put asunder." i These woids will cease to have a significance in New Zealand, if the Divorce Courts are to be as busily employed as they have been during the past few .months. The facility with which the parties to a marital tie may be released from their obligations is assuming a reproach upon our civilisation. ■ It may be a good t.himg for all concerned that men and women who cannot live together .in amity should be separated. It would be an infinitely better thing for society if greater precautions were 'taken against unmatural and unhappy marriages. Tin moral condition of a people which makes the Divorce Court a popular rendezvous cannot be regarded with satisfaction. There is a social screw loose somewhere.
