THE SCHOOL EXCURSION.
It is satisfactory to be able to record the fact that the arrangement--, for the school excursion from the Wairarapil, in connection with the visit- of the battle-cruiser New Zealand, have been successfully completed. At one period' 'it looked as though a huge bungle wa« going to result; but, thinks to the efforts of Mr G. R. Sykes, M.P., and the Mas-ter-ton School Committee, tlhis has been averted. Two school exclusion trains are to Ik* run on Monday next —one for Masterton and the other for the surrounding districts. Children of all ages are to he allowed to travel-free, and parents or guardians will be permitted to travel with the children on the payment of the ordinary excursion fare. The Department deserves the thanks of the district for having conceded the wishes of those who desire to see the excursion a success.
