NATIVE LANDS.

We understand that there are, in t ho Masterton and Wairarapa electorales, several Native leases that are

::bout to fall in. In view of the demand for land for closer settlement, we would urge upon the Government tho desirability of endeavouring to aequire fcliese properties. Some of them, we are- informed, would make admirable dairy farms. There are also a number of stock and other reserves in this district that are at present nurseries for noxious weeds. These should also be thrown o])on for settlement. The time has come when every available acre of land should be made to produce. By this means I alone can we prevent aggregation in our cities and maintain our inereasj inj> population.
