NEW MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS.
The time has come when 'Masterton should be provided with municipal buildings worthy of the town. The present edifice has done good service, but it has become obsolete, and does not meet the requiremerts of a growing centre. The Borough Council, we observe, proposes that a sum of £2-j0 be placed on the estimates for the coming year as preliminary expenses in connection witli a new municipal building scheme. Seeing that the Council has failed to evolve a definite scheme, it would be well that the question of preliminary expenses be referred to the new Council, so thai the whole position may be reviewed. The fact that a building scheme is in contemplation is, in itself, a sufficient reason for the strengthening of the Council, and it is satisfactory to note that a number of young and vigorous townsmen'intend placing, their &ervices? at the disposal of the ratepayers
