THE HALF-HOLIDAY QUESTION.
There is one aspect of the half-holi-day question that appears to have ! escaped public notice. That is the lact that Saturday is the only day in the week on which school children from the surrounding districts can be brought to town. How many hundreds of school children are there who accompany their .parents in traps and motor cars, to be measured for boots .and clothing, and to enjoy the day's outing, wlio would be denied a source of infinite pleasure if the'shops were to be closed on Saturdays ? This may be considered only a minor matter ; but it is one of many that go to show how far-reaching would be the effects of the change proposed. We feel certain that public opinion in this district is averse to any experiment that would damage the prospect* of tli'e town.
