His Honour Judge Chapman, who presided at the Masterton sittings of the Supreme Court, left for Wellington, by .motor on Thursday evening. Mr A. S. Kingdon, custodian of the j)ixon Street Baths, Masterton, was yesterday made a small presentation by the morning contingent of bathers, in. recognition of the courtesy which ho at all times extended to frequenters of the baths. The death occurred at Wellington on Wednesday of Mr Thomas Porter, ■\vho*'for a number of years was the licensee of the Club Hotel, Masterton. The deceased had undergone an operation, /ind although he was very ill iiis death was. unexpected.
