A MURDER CHARGE.
YOUNG GIRL ACQUITTED. SYDNEY, March JO, (Received March 10, 11.20 a.m.) At the inquest on Walter Seily a verdict of accidental death was returned. Kate Seily, aged 16, daughter of deceased, wJho was charged with murdering her father, in a lengthy statement, which was largely a repetition of her mother's evidence, said her father had a loaded gun in hi.s hand and threatened to "do for the lot of them.," She replied": "Not while I'm here." ..He then threatened to blow her brains out, and she tried to take the gun from him. One of his hands was near the trigger, a.nd in the struggle the gun exploded. She had no idea it would go off and kill her father. Counsel for the defence declared that it was atrocious that a mere child should be arraigned on a charge of wilful murder .in the face of the circuinstances of the case. Even though in an agony of despair she shot her father to save her mother, he would look at her not as a murderess but a heroine. „ ' " There was an entraordinary scene when the verdict was announced, the crowd cheering and cheering again when the girl was discharged.
