LATE CRICKET
YESTERDAY'S MATCHES. On the Park Oval yesterday two cricket matches, which proved very interesting, were played. On No. 1 pitch a team representing the W.F.C.A., met and defeated a team representing the Civil Service of Masterton. on the first-innings by 44 runs. The former batted first, and compiled 101 before 'the last Avicket fell. The main scores were: F. Phillips 32, A. Caselberg 19, and L. Pieton, 13. The Civil Servants replied with 57. Williams 22. and Jackson 18, being the only members of the team to reach double figures. The team followed on and managed to avert an innings defeat by 14 runs. Hall, of the W.F.C.A. team, was the most successful trundler of the day, taking 11 wickets for 34 runs. Ralph also bowled well.
On No. 2 wicket the Athletic Cricket team defeated a team representing the Amateur Athletes, by 38 runs. Dickson gave, the most interesting display o and was applauded by the onlookers.
