SWIMMING
THE CARTERTON CARNIVAL. The Carterton Swirnmihg Club's annual carnival was held in ideal weather yesterday afternoon. , The attendance was large, and the racing throughout was very interesting and keenly contested. The Masterton boys swam very strongly, carrying off the open events in fine style. The 50 yards open race was won by B. Livingston, with J). Welch close up, Second. The 100 yds race was won by- C. Jarrett, with F. Phillips second. Five Maste./ton boys qualified for the final. 0. Per main won the plunge. H. R. Jarrett got second in the dive, and second in the cork race. Maisterton B team won the teams relay .race-off 14sec, after a most • exciting finish. The team consisted of B Livm'gfiton, M. Fly, H. R. Jarrett, 'and G. Germain . i
