YOUNG BIRD RACE
The' Masterton Homing Pigeon Club flew a very .successful young bird race from the Sumimit yesterday afternoon, when sixty birds, representing ten lofts, participated-; Fine weriher prevailed: and the .result was a very fast" velocity, the winning birds doing the distance (30 miles airline) in 39£ minutes. Mr J. Bradbury acted as judge, and the following is the detailed result: —■ Mr A. Miller's Twinkle 1290 yds per min. Ist; Messrs Keen and Rosson's Bvickie, 1279 yds, 2nd; Mr J. Dixon's Black Lupin, 1278 yds, 3rd; Messrs Drake, Gourla.v, Sutherland, Dowling, Braggins, Wilton and Pember also clocked in ctose up.
The next young bird race will bo for the South birds on Saturday next, from Dannevirke.
