WATER RATS.
Last night saw a largo crowd la witness the .mid-week change of programme at tlio T.-P, Electric Theatre. 'l'lie star turn en tho bill was a Luhio. feature drama, entitled Water itav>. It shows Bill Gran, leader of ther Water Hats, a gang of thieve, while* ill being kicked out by his companions. He attempts to steal a locket from Elsie, daugnter of a tug-owner,, and is caught, but the girl defends, him, and lie cherishes a dog-like devotion for her. Restored to healtft again .ho becomes the 'chief of tli& gang, ar.d on one occasion saves Eisit* from the Thugs. Tom Williams, a. young police officer, determines to> break up the gang, and, surprising; them, opens lire. The gang seize a» motor boat, and the police give chase* there is a running fight until tho gangsters' ammunition give, then BilL takes to the water an<l Williams follows. On the shore there is a desperate struggle between the two, in. which Bill is victorious, until he discovers on the officer's person the l(,cket> he.- tried to steal. He immediately realises that Williams is Elsie's sveefcheart, and the water rat places thehandcuffs on his own wrists and gives himself up to tho law.
