A campaign was being start-e<l to double the membership of wig Association in the Dominion, and al-v ready the efforts .had met witli re—> markable success. The conference recently held in Wellington had decided upon a central supervising body, with which the whole of the branches would he affiliated. It was hoped, by this means, to create a .sympathy be--tween different branches, and to se-* cure assistance from the stronger in. behalf of the weaker. Mr Jamie son. stated that he had coma from' Australia to New Zealand with, a frit knowledge that he was undertaking a. big task in putting the organisation on a business footing, but ho felt, sanguine of success. Men were- being; • trained -in America and elsewhere for local organising work in the Dominion, and it was ! hoped-"that ere long, the" Y.M.'C.A. would be achieving a. great and permanent work for the betterment of the people. Incidentally, Mr Jamieson remarked that the Association had already done nmcli good. Its physical' culture work was of considerable value, and it was extending its operations in otiher directions. It was also doing something in the way of assisting the immigration work.

Mr Jamieson met the Board of Management in'Masterten last evening, and plans were arranged for the toridnvs' campaign that is being undertaken. "*
