FIRE BRIGADE DEMONSTRATION
(By Telegraph.—Fress Association.) WANGANUI, Last Night.. There was again glorious weather for the Fire 'Brigade Demonstration to-dav, when there was a large attendance of the public. The results are as follows hose event, five men: Hillside Railway, Imin 12 2-ssec was first; Invercargill lmin 14-isec; Dunedin City lmin 15sec; Hastings lmin 15sec; Alexandra andra lmin 17 l-ssec.
Hose, hydrant and union, five men —Dunedin City 43 l-ssec, Timaru 45 sec, Dannevirke 46sec, South Dunedin 47sec, Hillside Railway 48sec. Rescue Event, two men. —Dunedin City (Duncan and Ross) 22sec,. 'first; Napier (Eddy and Gilberd). 22 2-ssec, Nelson 23sec, Caversham 27sec, R'oto"<rua 24sec. Caversham and Rotorua tied with 23 4-ssec, and had to run off.
Reel and Ladder, five men.-r-Mer-ryweather Shield).—Alexandra, 57sec first, Hokitika 58s>ec, Vissih and Hillside railway 59 2-ssec; Caversham 61 2-ssec, Dunedin City 61 3-5 sec, Greymouth 62sec. Jn the consolation event Lyttelton 31 4-osec, was first, Hastings 33 4-5 sec, Ashburton 34 l-ssec, Napier 34 l-ssec. The leading teams for the championebip shield are : —Timaru 32 points, Dunedin 32, Hillside Railway 29, Dannevirke 22, Alexandra 20.
Only one more event, the association event for five .men, counts for the championship competition, which will be finished on Saturday.
