MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society was held in the Dominion Hall, Mast-er-ton, on Saturday afternoon, there being present: Messrs J. B. McKenzie (president), T. G. Hoar, J. Georgeson, E. E. Chamberlain. T. Wyetli, A. .1. Welch. M. La very, R. Cameron, E. H. Waddington and A. E. Booth (C'artc.rton branch). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs B. R. Rayner, P. C. .Torgenseii. C. Hausmann and W. Sella;-.'
It '.va?' decided that the .New Zealand Scot he appointed the official organ of the Wairarnpa Caledonian Society, and that the Society do all in its Jimvcr to assist the journal's interests. Tt was also decided that Mr A. W. Hogg be appointed (subject to his ap-. prova!), the official correspondent of the New Zealand Scot. _lt was decided to affix the Society's.) seal to the deed of trusteeship forwarded bv Mr J. Coradine, solicitor. whereby Mrs Paulino; and Mr W. Gillespie \yc-«e appointed Trustees for the administration cf the Pauling Memorial Fund. A hearty welcome was extended to Mr A. E. Booth, a visiting., delegate from the newly formed Carterton branch of the Society, who in responding said that there was little doubt but that the forming of a branch of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society in Carterton would have the effect of increasing the croodfellowship between the two townships. It was decided that the executive bo appointed a committee to interview the_ Holiday Committee, with a view to inducing the tradesmen to close at 11 a.m. on Thursday 10th April, the occasion of the Pine Band Sports at Carterton. The Manga tainoka Sports Societv wrot? statin? that their recent mooting resulted in a small debit balance. Tt was resolved that the sum of £1 Ist b" voted to the Society as suggested.
