A SCOTT MEMORIAL.
■ " In several townships in New subscriptions are already being received towards a- fund to make provision for the dependents of the lll-fate-d Antarctic party. We have no doubt that Bis Worship the Mayor will consider the propriety of opening a similar fund 'in Masterton. Ihere are probably hundreds in this district who would, be pleased to contribute. Wo would suggest that the A. and P. Association start- the ball rolling by taking up a shilling subscription on its grounds on Tuesday and Wednesday. [f one-tenth of those who visited the show were to contribute a shillinii each, a. very creditable sum. woult!;' be raised. As an international fund will in nil probability be instituted, a i hilling subscription would ccem to suffice for this Dominion. Tn his last pathetic! message to the wn-rbl, 'Captain S wrote: "Purely, surely n great, rich r '-"vnitry like ouis will .see that, those wh.~. are dependent, on u-s are properly provided for!" What ..shall be our answer?
