MASTERTON COUNTY COUNCIL
MONTHLY MEETING. Tho monthly meeting of the Masterton County Council was held yesterday, there being present —Ors W. J. Welch (chairman), HI. Toogood, D. Foreman, A. J. Percy, C. Kebbell, W. Miller, 1). J. Cameron, R. F. R. Bcetham and A. Murray. A ratepayer applied for permission to remove two trees from tho Kopua.ranga stream,' stating thatf the obstruction was causing a good deal of damage.^—lt "was 'decided that the engineer inspect the obstruction, and take steps to have it removed. 'The Castlepoint County Comic:! wrote in reference to Leach's road and tho loan proposed to be raised in connection with the road in question. —It was decided that the County Clerk lie instructed to attend to the legalising of the agreement, with a view to the money being raised.
The Mastcrton Boroueh Council wrote asking that certain .streets within the borough he declared public roads. —It was resolved that t">e matter ho /held over, pending a legal opinion being received. A petition from eight ratepayers oil the Upper Plain, asking that the road between Caversham street and Kibble white road be ■ made public, wa? held over for a similar reason. The Masterton Chamber of O.iinmereo wrote inviting the Council's co-operation in arranging a reception for the Minister of Public Works on the occasion of his prnr-sod visit to Masterton. —It wfis decided that Ors Welch, Toogood, Cameron and Murray be appointed to meet the Ministar when he visits Maste.rton.
