SHOOTING TRAGEDY
ON THE MURDERER'S TRACK. (Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) MELBOURNE, January 12. It is believed that fingerprints have given a vahiable clue to the murderer of Cotter, who was fatally shot by a burglar a few days aep. The police are on the track of a person who is known to be an accomplice of the murderer.

GISBORNE. Last Night
A serious accident occurred at the Tiniroto sports on Saturday afternoon. Mr George Chase., of Nuhaka, was ridinsr the grey gelding Taihoa in the pony jumps, when the horse struck a luirdlo heavilv avid turning a somerjsault, fell on its rider, who appeared to be severely crushed. Mr Chase was brought to town with aJ.I despatch. He is in a serious condition.
