FIRE INSURANCE
[ ] AND the trust lands trust. . I At the monthly meeting of the Mas- ! terton Trust Lands Trust last even- ! iiirr, Ml- C. E. Daniell brought up the question of firo insurance• on.. Trust ? properties, stating that he considered the amount being paid away every j year was too large. He thought the I time was approaching when the -• Trust would have to provide for the insurartce of its own properties. The t present Trust building was absolu- ! tely fireproof, and yet they were pavx ing heavy premiums on it, and were being penalised because the hii'Mii 111 was in contact with wooden buildings. r Mr Daniell then moved: "That tho ! secretary be instructed to prepare a j statement showing the amount paid I by the Trust in firo insurance prem--1 iuins during 1912, and also a statee ment showing the premiums paic l ' during the past ten years, and a furi- ther statement of the amount receivi od for losses by fire during the sam* , e . period." i ! The motion was carried.
Mr A. W. Hogg, in supporting the motion, said that several Trust r>roperties, including the Town Hnll, were practically fireproof, and yet the Trust were paying heavy premiums to insurance companies. He also thou slit that the Trust should nvakc arrangements for insuring fts properties in the .State Fire Insurance, as at present the premiums paid wont for the most part out of the country. He considered that money spent in insurance should he given to the StaYe and not allowed to leave the country. Mr Hogg then gave notice to move at the next meeting of the Trust. "That insurances on buildings and property owned hy fTio Trust La" ;i * Tnrst he in future effected with tbn State Fire Insurance Department." Several other Trustees were of the opinion that some fresh arrangement should he come to in regard to the insurance of Trust property.
