THE OIL INDUSTRY.
The Wairarapa, liko Taranaki, is very keenly interested in the. development of the oil industry. The hitter district is being exploited: with British capital, and, if the result should reach the expectations of those who are engaged in the industry, there can he little doubt that the .thorough prospecting of the oil areas in the Wairarapa will immediately follow Tlio Taranaki Herald is sanguine of the success of the operations in that part. Tt concludes an article in its Wednesday's issue as follows:
"Sufficient has been said to show that- the success of the industry here is practically assured, and whatever lingering doubts may sf ; '' be held will soon be dispelled. There is much prospecting work yet to be done before the extent 'of the field is demonstrated, but the industry is now established 011 a sound and sure foundation and we feel quite justified in predicting that when the events of 1913 come up for review the most striking feature «o far as Taranaki is concerned will be the successful establishment of -an oil industry which will eventually prove one of the greatest industries in New Zealand."
