Ader, a ooaeh-painter at Bordeaux, invited his friends to a so-called "death-supper." At the end of the meal he produced a revolver, and asked for a cartridge from one of his friends, who gave him one, believing he was jesting. Ader then loaded the weapon, clinked glasses and blew' out his brains.
