ADJOURNED INQUEST
SOME REMARKABLE EVIDENCE

The adjourned inquiry into the circumstances connected with the death of Frederick George Evans, who died as a result of injuries received during the disturbances between the workers and strikers at Waihi on 12t'h November, was resumed to-day before Mr iWalbuitt, Coroner. Mr J. R. Lundon appeared for the relatives of tho deceased, and Mr Seliwyn Mays on behalf of the Crown, -■ Mrs Oottie, one of the women in the hall when the shooting commenced, stated tliaf she had a clear vinw of'Evans from the trmo he left the back of the hall. She sold there was no weapon in his hand, andshio. heard no report excepting s'bots inside the hall. She saw Evans struck down by the constable, and a crowd afterwards gather round assn.n.lt. him and attempt to Ivnch lir'ni. If other witnesses stated differently, they would bo wrong.
