A machine for testing moisturo in cheese hay now been installed, and it is expected that this will he the means of effecting an improvement in the cheese that is manufactured.

Dairy farmers are experiencing considerable difficulty in obtaining pigs for fattening this season, so probably there will be very little bacon sent away from this locality during the summer. Most likely the scarcity of pigs, partly helps to account for the increase in the number of calves that are being reared. . An effort is being made to arrange a railway excursion for schools in the neighbourhood, but the movement does not appear to be meeting with support here. Distance from the railway and pressure of work during the summer months render it almost impossible for parents or children to participate in anything of the kind. The money raised is to he expended in improving the ladies' dressing room at the hall. Tt was decided that another tournament should be held in the ne.ir future. Mr R.
