EVENING EVENTS

Thoi-o was a large attendance of the public at the Park Oval 'ast evening when the usual weekly events oi' the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club wore decided. A number o,f juveniles'took juirt in this event and paved the way for the scratch, men by knocking over several hurdles, much to the amusement of the spectators. ■ The results were as follow:

SWIMMING

A 06 yards handicap was lied i" the Park Lake yesterday iiftornocn under the, auspices of the W/iin'rapr, Amateur Swimming Club, there being fair number of competitors. The result was as follows:

First. Heat. F. Phillips (2sec) T C. P. Jarrett (7see) 2 H. Williams (7sec) 3 Time, 56see. Second Heat. G. Tivader (i)sec) 1 G. Permain (10s.'?c) ...'... 2 H. Devonport (7.sec) 3 Time, 59sec. Final. G. Pormnin 1 H. Williams 2 C. P. Jarrett 3 Time, fit sec. The final resulted in a, splendid finish, Permain lasting long enough to win by a foot.
