One of the most important problems which confront the Massey Government is that of reducing 1 the cost of living. During the recess it will be tlio duty of t.li© Government to carehvlly scrutinise the Customs tariff, to see if any genuine relief can be extended in this direction. The question of reciprocity with the Commonwealth must also be considered. The whole fiscal policy will require to he reviewed, with the object of securing a more equitable adjustment. The Minister of Customs would do justice by himself and the Dominion if he were to make an early pronouncement on the subject.
