THE "YELLOW PERIL."
There is a great deal of talk in Australia about the "yellow peril." According to Mr C. E. Bowen, organising Secretary of the British and Foreign Bible Society, Australians know as much about China as the Oliinese know, about Australia. They know nothing, he said, whatever about the meri who were at tlio head: pf f that snlendid reformative movement. China was a country which would have something to say in the world's affairs. Tlio few* specimens of Chinese they had in Australia were not true specimens of that wonderful nation. "Give China," ho continued, "our military prowess, our commercial enterprises, and our scientific fafets, and sho will be turned into a bad neighhopi', She would be given influence tho' would mean the destruction of Australia. But give her. Christianity and moral principles to work that reformation, and' we shall give '-her something which will establish good relations between that countrv and „• •», * our own." ;
