THE WAIHI RIOTS.
Tho disgraceful incidents that have occurred at Waihi during the last lowdays are calculated to alienate sympathy from those who have become arbitrationists, and to assist the cause of the federationists. Tho latter, although defying common sense and reason, and using insulting language f,o thoso who roturned to work, have not resorted to nets of violence in any degree. They have, in} fact, done very little more than "follow up" and employ such epithets as "scab." Tho arbitrationists, "on the oth6r hand, have become openly defiant, and have gone a long way towards provoking breaches of the law. No 'doubt they havo felt themselves aggrieved, and have resented the indfgnitios offered them by the federationists. But this is no excuse for their becoming uproarious and desperate. The polieo will not only require to prosecute thoso who used firearms —they must.of necessity bring to book those whose aggressive attitude has been responsible for the riots.
