MONTHLY MEETING

Tho monthly meeting of the Mastertou 'Trust Lands Trust was held in the Trust Office last evening, there being present —Messrs R. Krahagen (chairman), 0. E. Daniel!, T. B. Micliell, D. Caselberg, W. H. Jackson, A. W. Hogg and H. C. Robinson. An apology for absence was i-eceived from Mr 0. N. C. Pragncll. .* Mr J. Archer, Town Clerk, wrote calling the attention of tho Trustees to the way in which the flashlight at the Town Hall wa-s being used, and 1 stating that the method of working tho flashlight was u menace to public safety, and that one or two accidents had been narrowly averted. Mr Daniell said that if any any accident occurred, the responsibility would lie with tho Trust, and step, should be taken to throw the responsibility .upon the lessees of the Town Hal],

Mr Hogg did not see any harm in the flashlight being used. He bad talked with several citizens on tb*. laul cer, and they considered the light to afford some amusement. Concluding, Mr Hogg said "Some people are too sensitive to live." Other members considered that something should be done to remove all responsibility in the matter from tlia Trust to tie lessee of tho Town Hall. It was finally decided on-the motion of Mr C. E. Daniel], that "Tho lessee of the Town Hall be informed that i-hould an accident occur through ope;:ating the flashlight need by him, the lessee will be responsible for any andall cosequoncea." ■Mr G. Matbeson -wrote thanking the trustees for continuing the £lO grant to liim, and Mr W. Terry wiote acknowledging tli© receipt of the first" instalment of grant and thanking the Trust for same. Mr G. R. Sykefj. M.P., wrote asking for a copy of tho Trust balance sheet. . It was decided that same be forwarded;. The Masterton Y.M.C.A. wrote thanking the Trustees for a grant. of .CIO. The secretary of the Wellington Education .Board wrote thanking the Trust for the grant of £IOO towards furnishing the new Assembly Hall at the District High School, and also for first instalment of school grant. Messrs Harper and Son wrote asking the consent of tho Trustees io the assignment of the Joula works lease to Mr 0. H, Moss. It was decided that the transfer of the lease he granted, subject, to tho rents due being paid, the Chairman to be authorised to affix the Trust seal. The Masterton Competition Society wrote forwarding the report and bal-ance-sheet of the last competitions held by the society. The ■manager of the Masterton Technical School wrote applying for the second instalment of the Trust grant. It was decided that the instalment l)e paid before the end of the year.
