THE Y.M.C.A.
The Y.M.C.A. is an institution *of some account in the English-speaking world. It has a useful mission ; but it does not receive, thq support from tho churches to which it is entitlod. | Speaking at the annual meeting of ! the Christchurcb branch of the Association, -the, organiser said/-"The Association his its back against the wall •Mt is fighting for its existence. I do not know that that is not for our benefit, as it frees us from tho 'quittors' and. the shirkers. We are now receiving our baptism of fire. Where is our opposition ? Where is our fight P. Our battle has to be fought against many tlxat wo ought to have as our friends. No one man can hope to find everything that he would like in tho .organisation. If our aims and nierthods are honestly for constant uplifting of theyoung men for tho best that :lifo holds for them, as I believe them to'he. we have the right to say to our friends in the Church, 'give, us tho opportunity to mako good.'
