The announcement made in tho .House of Representatives yesterday that the Featherston to Martinborough railway is on the list for this year's authorisations will afford intense satisfaction to sottlers in tho Lower Valley district. Tho great bulk of Wairarapa people would, however, have boen more pleased had thoy received Jn assurance that the Rimutaka .railway to be devinted. It is questionable whether the construction of tho railway between Foathorston and MartinWongh will not prejudice the deviation project. The opinion of the Minister on this point would he interesting.
