Mr Laing-Measen accomnanied hv Mr T. Feist (Mayor) and several members of the Borough Council visited the waterworks on Thursday afternoon, in connection with the new -*highrpressui<e.scheme to •fore the.ratepayers* at an early data. A quantity of data was obtained, and this will be submitted for the' consideration of the ratepayers at a public meeting to be held shortly. There were thirteen births, . one marriage, and two deaths registered in Carterton during October. Mr Hugh Armstrong, who has been associated with the office staff of ; : vMfesrs,tvallaco, Massen and Co. CartertVln, for some time past, has. accepted a position with the Bank of New Zealaifdi, and left on Friday for Raetihi.
Mr E. Eagle, jun., leaves for Christchureh on Tuesday next, where he will judge Jersey cattle at the A. and P. Show there. , Mr E. Dunstan, of Waimate, replaces Mr CV M. Whyte as lettercarrier here, and commenced his duties on. Friday. Mr Whyte leaves in a fortnight's-.time to take up a
position in -the Dead Letter Office, Wellington. Area-Adjutant Captain Brack-tail, of the Territorial Forces, was a visitor to Carterton on Friday. The health of Mr Henry Cheshire, of Belvedere, is at present. -causing his manv friends anxiety.
