TK Of,! PEON-PAYNE PICTURES "DAXTE\3 INFERNO." Masteriion picture lovers are indeed fortunate in having such an enterprising firm as Messrs Thompson and Payne to cater for them, for at considerable expense they have seemed the biggest picture ever sent out to New Zealand, viz., Dante's Inferno. This picture is described by leading English and American papers as the greatest thing ever attempted in cinematography, amd a perfect representation of the famous novel, of •the same name. 'lt "is indeed a weird picture. Some 5500 feet in length and filled with the most glorious sights that could possibly be imagined, Dante's Inferno stands on a pinnacle of unequalled supreimacy as a n exclusive hi remarkable stagecraft and awe-inspiring magnitude. It describes the poet's vision of hell, arid was played by the late Sir Henry Irving with tremendous success to enthusiastic audiences. Such a sight as the wild beasts that, bar the path of. the poet towards the sunlit, nummit, the descent of Beatrice from Heaye.u, and her interview with Vir- i gil, the city of Dis, the inner of the Deeper Hell, the journey through the Stygian Lake, the tower on the shores of Dis, the signal of light from circle to circle, the rescuing angel, the opening of the gates, the appearance of the Erinyes on the ramparts, the den of the serpents, the cgllege of the mcurning hypocrites, the fate of Caiphas, the High Priest who condemned Jesus to death, must certainly be seen to he realised. In addition an exceptionally fine range of pictures will be shown. A special treat has been promised for the children at the matinee this afternoon, and The Stolen Battleship, The Man under the Bed, The Sheriff and Bandit. Bobby as a Chemist, Bibbie's Revenge and Out in the Nighi. will, provide plenty of fun and excitement for them.

A Pathe kinematographer was on board the Britain, He rushed and got his machine, and took pictures continuously as the Helvetia sank from the sight of man. This extraordinary film includes pictures of tho rescued and rescuers. A Western romance of- tho wild happenings is Tho Outlaw, a story of misplaced friendship. Cabes Oasis is a delightful scenic, Studies of Kittens an animal study. A coloured drama of historical environment is shown in the Marriage i.t> the Reign of Louis XV. Spanish towns, scenic, Courageous,, comic, and Pathe Gazette concludes a splendid programme.
