WAIRARAPA AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.

The committee of the Wairirapa Amateur Athletic Club met in Messrs Gawith and Logan's rooms last night, when the programme for their annual snorts on. lioxing Day was drafted. The list of events is ft very comprehensive one, all branches of athletics being liberally catered for, and includes the following handicaps: —75 yards, 100 yards, 220 yards, 880 yards, 1 mile, flat races; a one and two mile walking events, 120 yards and 410 yards hurdles, a high jumping handicap, a hop-step-arid-jump handicap, a putting the shot handicap, and a pole vault handicap. A PrivMicial Championship teams relay race, .several boys races, and halfmile boys' walk complete a very fino programme. The st?.r event will be for' a bracelet valued at £4, with 30s and 10s trophies as second and third prizes respectively. The New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association wrote, asking if the Wairarapa Club would finance a sports' gathering in Masterton, if the proposed tour of American athletes should eventuate. It was unanimously decided to instruct the Club's delegate to guarantee on behalf of the Club any amount within- reason to secure a visit of these world-famous athletes to Masterton. Messrs A. Ward and J. Diirgin* wort* elected members ef the Club.
