WOOLLEN MILLS.
Mr J. W. MacEwau, who came to Masterton yesterday by invitation, delivered a most interesting and instructive address on the subject of the woollen mill industry. 'Mr Mno Ewan was for many years identified with the Petone mills, and speaks with authority born of experience. In his woollen mills to <ieal with coarse wools could be establish-* ed for £20,000, This is by no means an -extravagant outlay. Tho Ashburton mills cost £25,000, and they employ between fifty and sixty hands. Tho Master-ten Olfcxmbe-r cf Commerce was fortunate in securing an address from Mr MacEwa.n, and it is? to bo hoped that the information he supplied will result in an early- and concerted movement to establish the industry in the neighbourhood of Masfccrton.
