Meanwhile the Victorian Minister has deferred his threatened legislation and has apparently modified his opinion concerning the operations of the Company.. It is very 'much to be deplored that a: (Minister of the Grown sliould have created a panic .by hasty statements, 'made, apparently, upon unreliable in. formation. The policy-holders in New Zealand and elsewhere .have a right to protest against their interests b'e- ( ing assailed in so unwarrantable a : mariner.
