WAR PROSPECTS.

In view of the present position in regard to the Balkan trouble, the following cable, which appeared in the Sydney Sun last week will be read with interest The North German Gazette .considers that there will be a more extensive conflagration, in which the great European Powers will be involved. Crowds at St. Petersburg cheered Bulgarian and Servian officers as they left the military college. Applications from Russian army officers to be allowed' to go to the war are pouring in on the War Office, but are being refused. Many officers have resigned, and are on their way south to join the Bulgarian or Servian forces.
