A BODY FOUND
FLOATING IN LYTTELTOX HABBOUE. ■ - (By Association.) CIHRISTOHURCH, Lsst Xigth. j Shortly after 5 o'clock last evening. J two small hoys who wore on ihr» XoJ 4 wharf at Lyttelton. noticed what appeared to bo a body floating in the water. They called two men, who went down and found it "to be the body.of a man. They sent for the police, and the body was got out •• nd taken to the morgue. It «vas in a state of advanced decomposition, and was unrecognisable. In the oat pockets was found a membership br,ok of the Federation and Seamen's Union of Australasia, with the name .lames Murdoch, and tho date of enrolment January Ist, 1912; also a copy of the Liverpool Weekly Mercury. It is stated that a man named James Murdoch "who deserted from the Kent some months ago, has been missing for somo time.
