SELF-DENIAL.
Jn connection with the annual selfdenial effort of the Solvation Army, which, is now in progress, a great amount of interest will attach to the following extract from a letter written by the late General Booth only a few weeks before his death. It deals
in fact with the prospects for this year's self denial, and runs:—"The perseverance- of the Salvation Army in her difficult task of removing misery and savin;;; the lost must win the admiration of every generous-minded person to whom we appeal. Whether blessed or cured, kindly responded to or driven from your door with ignominy and scorn, she persists in her Heaven-born task of rescuing the children, fowling the starving, comfor ting the broken-hearted, and guiding the lost to the--Better Land. J am again appealing for help to carry on this.blessed Avork. Will you not assist'me?" Whether your gift be large or small, wo shall reeeivo it . gratefully, make the host.possible uPe
