AN APPEAL TO REASON.
The manifesto issued by the new Union at Waihi is an honest . and straightforward appeal to reason. It states the position is a succinct and unprejudiced style, and leaves no joom for doubt that the strike weapon is a two-edged sword that the men themselves recognise as dangerous to handle. The Press Association agent -states that about sitxy of tho miners will respond to the notice to resume work to-morrow. Those who fail to respond will, of course, have their contract cancelled;, and will have themselves alone to blame. The strike, so far as it affects the mines, may now be considered at an end. Mr Somple and his friends may induce a number to refuse to work; but those who take the advice of these gentlemen will rue the day they over saw or heard of them. The man who refuses to work when work is offering under fair conditions is either a wastrel or a Pool.
